I've never seen 0w-40 in the 5 quart "bottle". Good for you.

Transitioning to VW 504/507...low sulphated ash. I guess the Syntec wasn't cheap. Made in USA now???

You won't, more expensive to make. He means Mobil 1 5w-40 Truck & SUV, aka Delvac 1. Ester based

Default Honestly, it doesn't matter...

Mobil sells the base oils to blenders like Castrol for G-III HC and benefits either way. The arbitration board got it right, HC process meets the technical definition of synthesis, as per chemical reference manuals. We are used to the terms from Latin, "Suntheti" and "theosis" (to put) + (together). AMS makes some HC oils and the better ones are as good as almost any OTC PAO or Ester oils. German Syntec is crazy ****, unique and cannot be compared to any others except Fuchs Titan.
