I wanted to know if you remove the catalytic converter where the turbo conects on the 1.8T and replace it with just a straight pipe what are the downfalls and what are the outcomes/gains of doing that?.....beside inspection

if not, you're not getting that much of a gain if any. Your MIL will be on most of the time. It'll smell funnny in the car time to time and you'll fail emissions. But it will sound a lot deeper.
If you have an upgraded turbo, you should see the turbo spool a little quicker, the MIL will be ON, and it will still smell funny in the car ohh, and you'll fail emissions (deeper tone too)
Those have been my experinces thus far.
BTW, don't lick a cat, lick a pu$$y :P

i ahve a 2.5" one, works good, sounds awesome w/ the borla, i think i got gains with it, how much? who knows, my cat flange broke so i needed somthing. as for passing emissions with one, get a mil eliminator from pony express (ive posted on this a buncha times so search for that) and there is also another option wich i will be trying soo, it seems to work well, it is to use a spacer of sorts to pull the O2 sensor our of the main stream of exhaust, but keep the heated part hot still. they dont do roller tests on out cars because they are OBD II and also AWD so they cant do a sniffer test, if the computer thinks its passing, then it is.
