Hi there,

I have a 99 A4 and just got my CD changer. I checked archive and the FAQs about installing the changer but didn't find a concrete answer. If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreaciate this. I also wanted to know if I need the mounting brackets as mentioned in pre 99.5 models. The dealer seemed pretty sure about not needing anything more than the screws and I just cannot figure out where it is secured. Help!!

Which changer? Audi or Panasonic?

It's an Audi OEM 6-disc changer

I installed my 801 underneath the rear deck this morning. It took a little less than 2 hours. You won't need anything other than what came with the Panasonic changer. However, if you're planning on mounting it vertically in the spot where it was intended to be mounted, you will need an installation kit.

If you're interested, do a search in the archives for it (there's an item in the FAQ about this, but last time I checked, it linked to the wrong thing).

I went to another dealer to get some help. They pointed out even though I have a 99 model, I have the 98 setup in the trunk for the CD changer. Has anyone else experienced this. It's a bit disconcerting. Nonetheless, I'm forced to order the mounting kit ($75). Should I ask the dealer where I bought it from to explain this and to try and have them help pay for this cost? Thanks.
