CEL Code P0171 and occassionally dies at idle
I have a 2001 1.8TQ. A few weeks ago, I got a CEL and had the OBD scanned at Autozone here in Boston. Came up with code P0171 (System too lean Bank 1). The person at Autozone said it was the O2 sensor, but after searching on here, I'm not sure. One of the threads I found here mentioned cleaning the MAF, so I guess I'll try that tonight. The CEL cleared itself after 2 days and about 12 or so restarts. Now, however, the car occassionally dies at idle shortly after starting (especially when cold). It drives fine otherwise. Anyone have other ideas? Thanks in advance!

Re: CEL Code P0171 and occassionally dies at idle
i started to take apart the airbox tonight in order to clean the MAF and i discovered a whole bunch of debris in the bottom of the "snorkel" where the air enters the airbox. could that be the reason for my CEL P0171 code (system too lean)? I'll clean it out and see if that helps.
How difficult is it to get to the MAF?
