CEL on and misfire on Cylinder 2
Hello,
I am new to this forum and also new to Audi. I have owned VWs most of my life but now I recently baught a 2001 A4 1.8T with 138K. Car runs pretty good for the most part but had a bunch of codes. I changed the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, oil change, rebuilt the axles and also replaced the crank censor. Still getting one misfire code for cylinder 2. Changed the Ignition coil and now CEL comes and goes. When it goes, I feel like the care a little more power. Could it be the ICM? Maybe a fuel injector? I also have a Hastings fuel filter but haven't changes that yet. Any ideas or experience with this issue?
Thanks,
Alex

you can quickly diode ck the ICM with a volt meter ck pins across for reverse diode ck and to the center pin of 5 (gnd). I had similar issues and it turned out to be the egr hose under the intake manifold.

CEL and misfire issue
So I never pursued the CEL diagnostics. I know it's a misfire in cylinder 2 but haven't looked into it further. The car has been running pretty good but I feel like it loses a little power from time to time. Especially in first gear. How would I know if I have a compression issue or could it be a sludge issue?
