I've been searching the treads but can't find what I'm looking for.

I am trying to flush mount my new Pioneer stereo head unit. Instead of simply pulling out the Concert Stereo with the pullers I want to remove the plastic that houses the climate controls, buttons, ashtray...ect, so I can get at the din mounting screw from the sides.

I have located 3 8mm bolts, covered by plastic caps, holding the plastic center dash peice on. I removed these but it appears that I have to also take the shifter plastic housing off? Is this right?

Do I need to take out the Concert stereo before this dash piece will come out?

If anyone could describe/link me to how to take off the center dash peice off as to get at the climate controls/stero it would be great. I can only find stuff of 2000+ Audi's!
