Default Central Locking

I have a 2001 A4. Is there anyway that the door locks can be programmed to lock by themselves, when the car is moving at 15 mph? I think this feature is called safety lock?

Default A lot of dealers won't do it, citing liability...

How doing it could possibly make them liable, I don't know, but we are living in litigation happy USA.

Anyway... If your dealer won't do it for free, there's probably someone here who has a VAG emulator and is local to you. A couple of slices of pizza and a beverage will probably get it done for you.

You might find it useful to have a VAG emulator of your own. There are really two different ones; VWTool, and VAG-Com. Both are software packages for PC (usually a laptop), and they require an adapter and ODBII cable. Ross Tech sells them, or you can make one yourself. Take a look at the FAQ.

But where are you?

Default Look here.

What you're looking for should be free once.

The other options, such as control over the windows w/ the remote, are the ones that the dealer might have a problem with.

http://tech.vw.com/audipdf/a01-98-07.pdf</a

Default Audi dealer will code it once under warrenty

We paid $32.00 to get our 98.5 A4 coded to auto lock. When we picked up our 01 A4 last month I told the dealer to program the auto lock - they did for free. I know someone on here posted a service circular from Audi where it stated Audi will do it once under warrenty. I have it somewhere.
