Default Certified Preowned Requirements for Brake Rotors

I just bought a 2004 Audi A4 from an Audi dealership. The brakes work fine right now, but a mechanic looked at my brakes and said the rotors were rusted and pitted and could not be turned and that I would be going through brake pads, alot quicker than I should. As a certified pre-owned vehicle should the rotors be in better condition? Should they have been replaced?

Default First off, you're in the wrong forum, '02-'05 A4s are B6 Platform

Second, the rotors must be above the minimum wear thickness indicated on the rotor to pass Audi Assured inspection. Brake pads must be 50% or greater pad wear left. But if there are problems with the friction surface of the rotor they should have been replaced before the car was certified.

Default here's the complete list...

I can't look at it... I feel bad seeing how many things the dealership skipped on checking fixing when I bought mine... pfff....<ul><li><a href="http://www.audiusa.com/common/images/certified_certification_inspection_report_US.pdf"> click</a></li></ul>

Default Afraid that is untrue....

Brake rotors are covered for 1 year/12,000 miles under the 2005 and earlier new car warranties. 2006 and later the coverage is reduced to 6 months/5000 miles. Same deal for brake pads and other wear items....wiper blades, etc.

Default I paid $0 for mine last year... I have a 2001 and I has 2 months of factory warranty left when

they did it. I was quite happy not having to pay the previously quoted $850 and didn't ask many questions, took the key and disappeared...

Default You got lucky then

as my dealer used to do that for customers until Audi started kicking the claims back and charging the dealer for all the parts/labor involved.
