Default Changing brake pads... what's this about the master cylinder overflowing? (more)...

Where is the master cylinder? How should I remove fluid? FAQ says turkey baster? Is the fluid OK to put down the drain? I can put in in my used oil container if not. TIA.

Default Master cylinder overflows when you compress the piston.

As long as the master cylinder isn't topped off above max, when you push the piston back, you shouldn't overflow the reservoir. If you do, simply siphon some out. It shouldn't be more than a few ounces.

Default I usually open the bleeders to let the fluid out that way...

Keeps the dirty fluid from swimming back upstream.

If you've never added brake fluid, compressing wheel cylinders shouldn't overflow the master cyl.

Since most of us use the dealer - topping off could occur without our knowledge.
