Default Changing Speedometer Problem

I have had to replace the speedometer and the car will no longer start and the immobiliser symbol flashes. The mileage counter also flashes Insp and service. When I put the old speedometer back in it starts first time. Is there something wrong with the replacement speedometer? or does it just needs programing? is it something I can do or do i need to take it to a dealer? Thanks.

Read the link enclosed. I don't have an immobilizer on my car, so I have no experience on it.

Shows how to recode your new instrument cluster.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the speedy reply. Looks like a VAG-COM terminal is required to reprogram the immobiliser so think i'll have to take it to the dealer anyway.
