Default I like permatex ultra blue... tried the red, but it kept leaking until I changed to ultra blue

I think ultra blue is formulated a little better for oil protection.

Default I'll be using permatex RTV as well.. picked up some of the black stuff.

There's also "Ultra Copper" which is supposedly best for 4-cylinder turbo... so, I guess you should pick that once up if you find it.<ul><li><a href="http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_makers/auto_Permatex_Ultra_Copper_Maximum_Temperature_RTV _Silicone_Gasket_Maker.htm">http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_make

Default If I recall correctly the Permatex Ultra-Grey resists the most vibration while

the Ultra-Copper resists the most temperature. So the Ultra-Copper I would use for the valve cover gaskets and the Ultra-Grey I would use for sealing oil pumps and the like. Having said that, it's kind of confusing that a company like Permatex makes so many variations of the same theme. I'm sure the red and blue will work just fine but... what's the point of SO many types ?
