Besides, you'll never be able to get a 2.8 engine turbocharged for under $1000. Sure, you can get a K04 by itself for under $1k, but you'll need all sorts of other stuff. Intercooler, boost controller, bypass/blowoff valve, custom exhaust manifold adapter, all the hoses and mounting hardware needed, etc. It'll end up costing you a few grand by the time your done, and that's if you do all the labor yourself.

Just save your money up and get a PES kit. Tested, proven, easy to install (if you have the tools and experience), and all the parts needed. Plus, you won't have to deal with turbo lag and cooling it down with an intercooler and all that jazz. And it sounds really neat.
