Check engine light

I have a 2000 1.8T with 27000 miles (one month past warranty!) and it has been trouble free so far. Last night it started a little rough, meaning I had to turn the starter for ~1 second longer than usual. The check engine light remained on but the car ran normally. I started it approximately 2 hours later and the same thing happened. This morning it started normally and the check engine light was no longer on.
The manual simply says to have it checked out if the light is on, but since it seems to have "fixed" itself, I am interested in what this forum thinks I should do. Is it worth a non-warranty trip to the dealer? I am due for scheduled maintenance in 2000 miles.
Thanks for your thoughts.

You will be able to see what codes, if any, were captured when the CEL illuminated. There are a bunch of reasons this *could* have happened, and it may have cleared itself, but chances are it will happen again.
Good luck
