Check Engine Light

Check Engine Light
You all will love this one.
Last week I had my 2000 A4 in because the check engine light was on and the car was running a bit rough. Dealer said it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor. $500 later I had my car back and running fine. 48 hours later the check engine light was back on.
I called the dealer today to set up an appointment to have it checked out again and the service writer told me that 24 out of the last 27 A4s they have had in for service are experiencing the same problem. He said they fix what equipemnt says is the problem, people leave with car running fine and then check engine light comes back on.
I have my suspicions about what the problem is. I'll let you all know when I get my car back. It doesn't go in until 20 Aug.

Could they be heat related?
...For the past two months I've gotten CELs on very hot days (90+) and usually they go out the next day. The dealer told me not to bring it in if the light was out.
I'm thinking I need a VAG-COM...
