Hi all,
while on a 300 mile trip, my MIL (check engine light) came on about 100 miles into the trip. It stayed on until right before I got home, so it was on for roughly 200 miles. Should I take the car in? It's a 99.5 2.8qms with 17500 miles on it, i had the 15000 mile service on time. Suggestions? What went wrong in the rist place? Should I take it in, or just forget about? Thanks for any help in advance.

I would not worry too much about it. Sometimes a misfire will cause the MIL to come on, then go away after time.
If the car begins to run poorly, or the light re-appears, get the codes pulled. May be nothing, could be a bad vac line or coil pack, o2 sensor basically anything.
If the light is BLINKING go to dealer immediately, or get the car flat bedded there. Blinking is very bad, signaling severe system failure.

They said that I must have waited until I was almost out of gas to fill up. Apparently, you can set off the check engine light if you are very low on gas. Understand I did not run out of gas. I keep a very detailed log of everything on my car. I had ~1 gallon of gas in the tank when it happened. So dealer said that it could have happened when I went around a corner. Whatever It is ok now.
