Hi,
I started my car this morning and all of a sudden, the check engine light kept on blinking and the car started shaking heavily. I tried switching the engine off, waited, and then tried again, but to no avail. The engine light just kept on blinking. The car was still able to move when I step on the gas but not much at all. It was like the throttle was not responding with the cylinder.
I have an 2001 A4 with an APR chip. Has anyone encounter this before? please help. Waht could be wrong?

and only running on 3 cylinders. Do not drive the car, as the bad vibration is an unbalanced condition, and can lead to serious problems down the road.
I had the same thing happen in my 97 A4, but mine turned out to be a bad ignition module, which I don't think the newer A4's have.

You're not supposed to drive with a blinking CEL, but you make it sound as if the car is going to blow up or fall apart if you do. It won't. I drove for an hour on 3 cylinders (blinking CEL), because I had no choice. 25,000 miles later and no ill effects.
