I put a short documentation of my rearmount turbo install on this site, and then I got an email from STS Turbo's vice president that it is against the law for me to make this kit from scratch for my own personal use. He also recomends that I take the site down as it promotes not buying their kit. He also says that it is like "copying your friends DVD for personal use".... What does everyone else think of this? See the site for more details... if the link doesnt work, just search asv4k8 on cardomain.com

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/780860/1</a

That is all his patent will protect him from and even that has a time limit.
Huge difference between using an "idea" and making a copy of a DVD since what is on the DVD is the product not the disk itself. Maybe the owner of STS Turbo should learn the difference before using that as example.
BTW, ouch all of that sits way too low. Does the air filter sit near the turbo under the car?

yea its low but I still have 4" of clearance at the lowest point. the filter sits right on the maf which is then right on the turbo. There is an air box around all of it.

that may or may not have any performance edge, cobbed up parts that make the car nearly undriveable, cobbed up lighting that acually maeks less lumens than stock..
Nothing says ricer like making your car not much faster, but much less usable.

Most likely if you read the patent it would be quite easy to get around as well. The most I would do is not like to his website anymore (are at least spell it out so google doesn't find it).

Have you thought about running the inlet pipe into the trunk on 1 side then doing something like what APR did with their shop car where a velocity stack or vent would be mounted at the driverside 1/4 panel. Could even make it look like a 2nd gas door.

I dont know who made you the authority on of all the cars on this site. Granted i lost 2" of ground clearance, but I promise you this car is faster, with brighter headlights, and more comfortable than any ****box vw you drive... I dont know about everyone else but im getting sick of people making dumbass uninformed comments on this site, particularly you.
