Checked out the new A4 in germany

I was in germany over the thanksgiving week.
While there I drove by the local audi dealer and tried out the new A4. I didn't drive the car but I sat in one inside the showroom.
I have to say that I overall very mutch liked the new design. I was worried it looks too mutch like the A6 but it turns out that the new A4 actually has some significant differences in appearence.
I was thrilled by the rear end design: it is not as round as the A6, in fact there is an edge that seperates the top of the trunk from the back-end. This is very refreshing when compared to the back end of the A6. Also, the front end looks very distinct from the A6.
For some reason, the car appears a little smaller than the "old" A4. It might be an optical illusion but the new A4 seemed taller and less wide when compared to my A4.
I also liked the interior, although I wouldn't have mind more TT influence.
Unfortunately i didn't have a chance to drive the car but this will happen on my next trip ;-))
I also had a look at the new passat. I must say I really liked it. The new front lookes high class! And the tachometer and odometer both now have chrome rings around them. This seems to be the new fashion in interior design in germany...

I just read an article in the December (I think)issue, comparing the 1.9 TDI to the Mercedes C220 and BMW (330 ?). It had about the same HP (130) and torque (203 ft/lb) as the others, and better interior (It's an Audi). A very good article.

Did you think that the rear tail-lights of the new 2002 A4 appear awfully similar to those on the 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder? That's my general opinion.
About the Passat. I really like the current generation as we have a 99 1.8turbo GLS automatic in addition to the 98 A4 2.8Q and 99 A6 2.8Q that we have. The Passat is a great car and I have to say the new one looks better than the new A4. Would you agree?
