Default I checked with a local dealer...

Yeah I see it now. X chip only says S4 but when I click on the link it says "fits A4/S4"!

Can my stock A4 handle that much power or do I need to upgrade anything else? (plan on using chip 40% of the time and driving stock otherwise if that helps the car).

Can you switch between stock & chipped while driving or does the engine have to be off for GIAC?

Default Well, here's the thing.

I got better MPG, etc. with the X chip over the stock chip. You'd be better off just getting the chip and leaving it. If you're not interested in making power, just accelerate without boost. Trips to PA used to yield me 28-29mpg, now they typically yield 31-32mpg.

So I wouldn't even bother switching between programs.

Default GIAC's X - CHIP QUESTIONS

I read that this chip is a 1.4 bar chip, if I don't have any other mods in my car can my car handle this chip??

Secondly, how do I know if my car can get this chip. I think my '01 A4 car was manufactured in May of 2000. I read in some posts that only audis made in mid '00 or after can get this chip.

Default 1. yes 2. it's based on your ECU number.

If you want to be sure, take the ECU cover off in your engine bay and inspect the part number. it'll end with "M" or "CH".

Default You could cover a postage stamp with the two programs. Go with which ever tuner has a dealer closest

to you. That way, if you have a post chipping issue and or the tuner provides an update you won't be hung up waiting for your ECU to travel back and forth.
The same day same dyno test etc. show the two chips being nearly identical but owners tend report the GIAC 'feels' a bit more agressive and the APR 'feels' a bit smoother.

One such dyno comparo
