Default Chip question. (no not what chip is better)

If i have a stock CH box ECU in my 2001 a4 1.8T quattro manual. And I have an APR chip (chip alone, from the same exact ECU, car, specs.) Do I need anything else, or can I just have the chip soldered onto my stock ECU?

Default That's all you need, you can solder it in. *edit*

I did the same thing a couple months ago. If you have the EMCS home programmer I would go with version 3.0 if you can. If you don't have the home programmer you will need to have an APR dealer have the programs put in the solt/s.

Default You don't need the home programmer to do it

but if you don't you will need to get it done at an APR dealer to "activate" it. 3.1 is the most current version.

do they charge to "activate" it, or is this free of charge because I own the chip?

Default They will charge ~ $50 to have it soldered in and get it ready for you

You might want to call your local APR dealer and ask for sure what they charge.
