Default chip question: NOT a newbie question.......

ive been having lots of problems with my car, and I think i might be dumping it in favor of something newer and more reliable soon.

my question is this: i cant very well take my car in for service with a chip and have them tell me it singlehandedly caused everything (even the f-ed up radio). what i want to know is if i can send the chip back to apr to get reflashed back to stock, OR have the chip sent to apr to have EMCS put on it.

the EMCS thing intrigues me (it wasnt available when i bought my chip). I could get a stock mode put on, and then i could still have the chip as a "selling point" or just for fun while i still have the car.

lemme know what you think.

Default based on some posts a while back the best bet is to either install an original chip or

send it back to APR to be reflashed as you mention...I have the EMCS option now and havent had any "detections" yet but the dealers can tell even with the EMCS option if your chipped or not with a little digging.

Why don't you borrow someone's ECU before going in for service and replace it afterwards.

I don't think you can get EMCS on pre 2000's. Why don't you call APR?

Even in stock mode you are still chipped. Try trading with someone who is stock.

Default you want a list?....... here goes...........

1) random, unexplained, check engine lights with no effect on engine performance

2) the already-replaced transmission is incapable of shifting even remotely smoothely when cold

3) trip computer display totally faded out in the top left corner of the screen

4) radio display has random lit squares all over the place, garbled display when cold

5) one of my speakers is blown, and i never play my music loud

6) godawful rhythmic squeaking from rear of car (not rev-related or speed-related, im thinking fuel pump)

7) dreaded b-pillar rattle

8) in 25000 miles, ive had 5 scheduled services and about 7 unscheduled services, which is unacceptable

more.........
