Default chipped 170 HP 1.8T vs. chipped 150 HP 1.8T

Will the chipped 170 HP motor have a slight performance advantage over the chipped 150 HP motor with the same chip?

Default no

As long as the 150hp engine has VVT, no it shouldn't since all audi did was add more boost to the 2001 150hp engine.

Default

the 150hp engines don't have VVT. VVT is part of the reason for 170hp in the 01s.

Default that's what I thought but..

I noticed on some chip manufacturer's websites they are claiming 210 HP with chip on the 170 HP engine.

Default sorry, not everywhere

I live in MExico and my A4 2001 1.8T has the VVT and has 150hp, like all the euro ones do. I think some of the Audis in the states came with this change and 150hp, like a lot of VW's 1.8T cars.

The chip tuner are getting a little more out of these engines, but I think it is closer to 205hp instead of 198. something like 7 more horses.

Default The lower compression of the VVT engine allows for more boost to be used...

so theoretically, it is capable of more power in a forced induction motor.

Default I thought the K03 was maxed out by most chips...

and therefore you couldn't take advantage of the lower compression without a turbo upgrade.

Default I think you can opt for chips with higher boost like a 1.5 bar chip.

This will stress the stock turbo a bit more but give you a bit more power from my understanding. However, I wonder how the two engines compare with identical boost pressures with the same chip.

Default I thought giac's 1.3bar chip was a race chip, to run with race gas?

I haven't heard of anyone using 1.5 bars in a otherwise stock 1.8T.

please clear me up.
