I would assume that running at such a high boost level would require some fine tuning and also some pinging nightmares..

I have the feeling (in my ***) (no, not THAT feeling) that the 01 with VVT etc has more power on the top end... and while I have no graphs to prove this, I could draw one with a crayon and scan it, but I am not going to...
so I would argue that, for example, 2 cars, identical aside from engines, 1 a 99.5 with apr v3 and 1 a 01 with apr v3... and the same drivers with the ability to do EVERYTHING identical, the 01 would be a HAIR faster...
but I am not betting the farm on anything... then again, I don't HAVE a farm... but you know what I mean

I dont get any pinging with the one I race with or the ones I use on the streets with pump gas. GIAC does not sell this chip to the public and I do alot of testing for them. The most you can buy from them for the K03 is a 1.1 bar chip. But they do sell a chip that runs 21psi and peaks at 26psi on a full load for the K04 kits from DSR for the dbw cars.
