Default I'll bite...

Is this a trick question? How about wash off the simple green, or scrub the trouble areas with a brush and hose off the engine?

I think you miss something between 1 and 2, 1.5) tape the area that you don't want to spray on!

Scrub, wash off the Simple Green and then repeat if you're really **** or the engine is really dirty.

Default Yes but...

You're not supposed to spray it on a hot engine. When it evaporates it leaves a wax behind that protects the engine from corrosion. The wax won't burn.

I've done this many times.
