I have a 99.5 A4 1.8T that I bought around the last couple weeks of July. When I picked it up, I noticed that there was a defect in the clearcoat paint that ran all the way from the top of the C pillar to the gas tank filler (on the passenger side). It was written on the due bill, but I haven't taken it in to fix it. They told me that I could wait until my first service. Has anyone else had a defective clearcoat?

Is this an actual defect in the clearcoat, or is it more like a stain beneath the clearcoat?
The stain thing is a known problem, I and many others have had it on their car. Do NOT repaint if this is the problem. It can be treated with a heat gun, or it will go away on its own after a month or two of exposure to sunlight.
Please disregard if you have a big gash in the clearcoat or something of that sort.

No, it is actually a defect in the clearcoat. You could see the lines where the clearcoat should have been and where it starts. You could even "chip away" parts of the clearcoat with your fingernail. Has ANYONE ever had this happen to them before?
