Every once in a while my climate control freaks out and starts switching between hot and cold every 2 seconds or so. The dealer "fixed" it once a while back by resetting the "basic settings". The problem came back, so I had another mechanic do the same, and it fixed it, but only for 2 days this time. Does this sound like a problem with the climate control unit? Is that what's being affected when they reset the basic settings?

you should probably consider taking it back to your mechanic that just reset it. Sounds like a gremlin in the control unit.
