Default Climate control unit - buttons fail to work - Any known issues?

I've recently had this happening rather often.

Climate control unit buttons go unresponsive for maybe 1 hour (all of them except compressor and recirculation). Then, some time later they go back to normal and are again responsive to input (i.e. pressing on them).

Any ideas what could be causing this and possible fix? This is my father's C5 A6 but I guess there are no big differences in terms of operation.

Any ideas appreciated.

Default with what? mine are all sticky...

how about that pesky 6th radio button that is so loose it looks like it could fall off the radio and only stays up pushed in like the other ones for a minute or two before reverting back to hanging.

Default Re: Don't think anything got spilled onto them - They don't feel as if they were stuck either...

but I suppose it might be dust.

I'll try what you suggest but are there any known issues with faulty control units because of the circuitry in them?

Default May no be stuck buttons

I had the same issue on my unit - but mine car is a 2000 and I think they used a different control unit, not 100% sure, though. Anyways, nothing ever got into the buttons and the buttons always functioned the way they should (proper rebound), but the unit would freeze up except to turn it on and to turn the fan up. You couldn't turn it off or turn the fan down until it magically reset itself. At first, it happened only a couple of times, but then it started to become more regular, so I bought a used unit on e-bay and the problem isn't there anymore. The proplem now is that the economy button sticks - most likely due to something spilling in there with the previous owner.
