Clutch: can I tell that it is time to change? Don't want to ruin the presure plate.

Default When you go to pass someone on the fwy and the revs shoot up to 6K and your
still going 80 mph.

Default I think that would be more of the throwout bearing going bad.
If the disk is worn out then it would just slip under load.

Replace the pressure plate and TO bearing anytime you replace the clutch disc.

Default thanks for the tip
that happend to me, my TO bearing went out. it made noise. but they ended up replacing more than just that.
