Default Clutch chatter?......

Every now and then when I shift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th quickly, I get this sound like the clutch is chattering. Sounds kinda like naaaaa (shift) na na na na naaaaaaaa. Maybe its some kinda driveline shudder with the quattro, or is it most likely the clutch? Clutch is pretty beat I think. I tried launching at about 4,500 to 5,000 rpm once, motor kept spinning but I didn't move an inch. Is that too much to ask of a factory clutch with quattro? I'm not much of a drag racer

http://www.jasonfennessey.com</a

Default yes...that is too much for the factory clutch to handle...

you will need a stage 2 clutch if you want to get all 4 tires to crack. It may even work on a brand new OE/stage 1 but it wouldn't last long.
Do you have a 1.8T or 2.8? Either way its asking to much of the factory clutch to spin all 4 tires.

Default How many miles do you have on your original Clutch?

mine (97 2.8 v6) is @ 92K and there is a lil slippage but only when i accelarate hard or not downshift @ low speeds and try to accelerate. wondering if this is normal.

Default hey, some questions for you...

What FPR are you running with the 310cc injectors? Did Evo setup your software for the FMIC? I've been thinking about going with larger injectors as opposed to the 5 bar FPR. Do you think that an injector setup runs better/stronger? Any problems with the N75J, How do you like it?

Default Stompy...see inside....

Its a 3 Bar FPR. Didn't know that till after the fact. I had a 5 Bar adjustable before...talk about running ultra rich. Actually, I still run rich in the middle of the band. Its better to running the 5Bar FPR and adjust it down to 2.6 - 2.8 bar IIRC. But I don't have a gauge on my fuel pressure line.

Yeah I wasn't sure which program I was running first. But I was only hitting 16PSI which sucked...didn't feel like there was a K04. I requested to them that I need at least 21PSI outta the kit. And had a new software loaded on. I did tell them I had an FMIC and everything.
I think the J31 software specifically works with FMIC. I'm not sure the rest do. At any rate once I got the new software in, proper 3 bar in and now my top end feels so much better than it did....definitely a noticeable difference when I went with the 310s and software. Especially when you start running to redline. There is just more power on top.

As for the N75J...I haven't had any issues...runs great. I think most of the no issue having part is due to the fact that I have the injector upgrade. From what I have read, the added fuel is helping to keep up with the boost. On the ndbw cars...the 240cc injectors could not supply enough fuel...and people would run into limp mode.
But I also think its a 50-50 shot. Some people it works fine for them any way other it doesn't. I know on the newer DBW cars they have 270cc injectors....they can supply more fuel and have less issues....just based on the research from different forums. If the part works for you and you don't overboost...you'll love it. Its cold here in chicago and normally I only saw about 13-14 PSI in 30 degree weather. Now its up to 15-17PSI and holds a better redline boost level, than without it. Those are just my findings for my car at least. You should gain a couple PSI off the N75J. its very smooth too.

I just put in the KO4 a couple months ago and I'm already looking for more power, sigh.

Default I was the same way, FMIC will help also.

I've been pretty happy with the setup so far, no complaints.

Default Yea I figured..

I have the 97 2.8. Its no fun having to baby it so, yea a better clutch is on my list. I'm pretty much just starting to throw some mods on it after 2.5 yrs. of owning it. Time to put the spark back in our relationship. Prob gonna go from the ground up starting at suspention. I've been looking at the new Koni coilovers. They're $1000 at tirerack.com. I figure that having a lowered car in the winter would suck so if I go with coil overs I can just raise it up again to stock. Opinions?
