Anyone know of a workaround for the reverse facing hex bolt on the clutch fan assembly, I need to take it out to replace the waterpump on my AEB, and the A-hole **** job mechanic who previously worked on this vehicle just stripped the crap out of the hex bolt. I understand its supposed to be a 7MM but even with an 8MM it doesn't get enough grip to losen the thing. AAARRRGGG, nothing worse to slow down an already lengthy repair.

Try PB blaster and an easy-out drill kit.

Per the REAL instructions on how to change out the water pump, I just removed the entire bracket...note: this also fixed my issue with the oil temp being too high, the plastic impeller must have hit the wall of the pump or the housing and broke in half.

Glad you got it sorted. I read the problem as you wanted the bolt replaced, didn't realize you wanted to fix a larger problem.
