Default Clutch pedal doesn't come back up

Well it didn't one day. After taking it to a shop they called and told me a tech drove it around the parking lot no problem. Shifting etc..

The brake fluid is really dirty and they are going to change it out for me. They also want to replace the slave cylinder. I'm not sure if it's worth it though if the car is shifting fine right now.

My basic question is this: What are symptoms of a faulty slave cylinder? If it failed completely would it work again like i described above?

Just looking for advice, I'd rather not spend the extra money if I can help it. Since they told me there's no way to definitely tell if the slave cylinder is at fault in this situation, Should I just have parts replaced because they might be at fault?

Thanks.

Change the hydraulic fluid first, bleed all 4 corners and the clutch, see if that fixes it

Default 2nd.......was it a hot day ?

It's common automotive practice to change both master and slave cylinders at the same time to avoid undue stress on the older, unchanged part. That means..........MONEY $$$ (shouldn't be too bad since both swaps are easily accessible but it's still shop labor you'll be paying for)....so avoid it if you can.

Good luck

Default answer is yes the slave cylinder failing can cause it to happen intermittantly

I had that happen on my car.

Most likely it's the clutch slave cylinder.
