Sounds like it is because the engine needs to be built out to accommodate the power - something we are willing to do with ours (or get another to play with) - but all that is waiting until spring - the suggestion re: a 2.7T has stuck and is likely the direction we'll go.

You want some h.p.? I got your h.p. right here
Now, if you really want 700 + h.p. I can build a small block Chevy for you that will pull about 850 at the axle. Of course you would have to put a scoop on the hood to accomodate the blower. But oh! will that SOB scream. Oh yeah, you'll need to find a source for nitro too. (Just kidding about the nitro.)
You'll need a 4 speed M22 rock crusher to handle the h.p. and maybe some wider tires, a Moser Engineering M9 full floater rear end and ...........
Sorry, got carried away there.
Good luck with your build!
Let us know the results please.

@ 700hp the mains will crack right off the block on a properly built APB. On a 2.8? Don't make me laugh. Hermes is drinking the coolaid. Having owned and built several REAL 700hp cars I can tell you what people think it'll take to get there and the reality of the situation are lightyears apart.

horse power
Right, it's not an "add this add that" deal. It's start with a short block and build up from there.
But, hey, give a guy a break and let him learn the old fashioned way.
Throw a ton of money at a project all the while learning where horsepower comes from.
I'm going to be happy with 210 on my newly acquired 1.8l turbo just as soon as I can scratch up a few hundred for the chipped ecu.
