ugg.
My fiances car went back to my buddies shop, cause the newly installed clutch was slipping. Before he opened it up, he called the parts supplier and read them the riot act, getting them to warranty the part and pay for him to go in and do the clutch again.
new clutch lasted 2 weeks.
So I get the call from him today. input shaft seal failed. Housing full of gear oil.
Ohh friggin yay.
Anyone want to tell my fiance for me?

clutch was oil soaked.
However, we didn't know that prior taking the car apart again. So unless a part of the new clutch failed and some how impacted the seal, it looks like the parts supplier is in the clear.
Which isn't good. I'd rather it be a bad part.

He blamed the part before he took the car apart. He seemed like the obvious problem.
A. He's a very competant.
B. Has always done well by me.
C. He handles my car, and my fiances personally, not any of his employees.
He is not charging me for this, however, he no longer has the part supplier to foot the bill either....so needless to say he's not to excited by the whole thing.
Clutch housing had no evidence of even a small leak when he was in their the first time...and from his description, it wasn't a minor leak.
Just wondering what would cause the seal to go

you have to be very careful when taking out/putting in the tranny/diff because it's very easy to bend the input shaft if you don't align it in properly. if everything was fine before and when he took out the tranny to replace the clutch, i'd look for the problem to lie within your mechanics hands. either he did not put in the tranny in right or god decided to break your seal. you choose..

if it doesn't go well I don't want to have to pull it all out again to figure out what happened. let someone else do it. I did the wheel bearings myself. let someone else do the clutch.
