It lasts a second or two when engaging the clutch from a stop. and I also heard it when releasing it. Sounds almost like a belt squeak. The a/c was not on. Any suggestions?

I haven't changed the brake fluid since i got it....it hasn't been low. should I? and a bad throw out bearing would cause a sqeak when its pressed and released?

a bad throwout bearing will cause a squeak, this is caused by riding the clutch.
using ATE Super blue or DOT5 brake fluid has been known to cause sqeaking clutches because the clutch shares the same fluid resivoir as the brakes (hydraulic clutch)
do some searching, use only DOT4 fluid.
