Finally found the perfect '99 A4 2.8, and as soon as its owner let's it go, its all mine! (When his 2001 gets here mid december) Just orderd my H&R Coilovers, Wheels and Tires from tirerack. Now the big question- I have installed springs and struts on several different cars, and not had much problem. I have been told that The C/O's are much more complicated to install. I have called a couple of different shops in N-Texas and have been quoted up to $600, including alignment. What is a fair price? Any one from N-Texas have a suggestion on a shop?

For a good coilover install, I think $300.00, not including alignment is a very good price. Even 6 hours of labor is not unheard of for a quality coilover install - it all depends on who you work with.
Coilovers really aren't "much more difficult to install" but they must be adjusted properly which can take some extra time if the tech has little experience. You cannot simply slap them on and drive away (well, you could but you wouldn't be very happy).
$600.00 seems a little high, IMO. If you calculate ~$80 for alignment, then that's 7.5 hours of labor at $70.00 an hour. I would shop around but try to find someone who has done a coilover install on an Audi A4.

I also have an independent Audi/VW tech who will do work for me at a very reasonable rate; he's also an "ace", but the "Audi tuner" down the street wants a lot more for his work. Problem is that most shops will want more than than figure you mentioned....4 hours of labor for a quality coilover install is not unreasonable.
So you come in on the low side, Charlie0's figure is somehwere on the high side, and mine somewhere in the middle.
