Default Coil overs or Shocks + Springs

Do coil overs give a ****ty ride or are they're ride and handling capabilities at par with a good Shock and spring setup like Bilstein + H&R

Default What are you looking for?...and how do you define "sh!tty ride"?

Coilovers are generally firmer than your average shock and spring set up, so you'll feel the bumps. Coilovers also have a matched shock and spring set up that controls the car better than most shock and spring set ups. The result, imho, is that ride quality and performance is better with the coilovers. I know, it doesn't make a lot of sense...if coilovers are firmer, how are they more comfortable. My only suggestion for you is to get some long test drives in from some locals with any suspension set up you're considering. Feel it out for yourself, and then decide.

Default I've got a FWD thats my problem (more...)

I wanted to do Bilstein + H&R RACE springs but H&R doesn't make their Race springs for the FWD. I want a more aggressive drop then the 1.3 in of the H&R sport springs and the only alternative I have found are adjustable coil overs. But I never really liked coil overs anyways for street driving.

But how much and what are they anyways????

Default You don't like coilovers yet you would use H&R race springs

I think ya got it backwards
H&R race are HARSH
coilovers can vary, and some are rebound adjustable as well, you can really tune the handling/ride

Oh.. mine is a 1998 1.8T FWD and they are KW variant 1 coilovers. I got them for about 2000cdn last year, but I recently got a 20021.8TQ..hehe.. So gotta sell these coilovers.

You can drop the car from 40mm - 75mm. The street driving isn't so bad. I was riding on sport suspension previously and later installed the coilovers. I think they ride pretty good compared to H&R race springs. I can give you more details if you like... email me at
audiboy31@yahoo.com

Asking 950cdn. Coilovers were only on for 1 year...less then 10000km.

Coil overs make the ride firmer but don't improve overall handling as much as shock/springs
