Default complex question about HID bulbs and their color. NOT N00BISH!

ok, so i had a set of osram xenarc 66040 D2S bulbs. They were supposedly stock out of an A4, I originally got them off ebay. They worked great for almost a year, but the other night, I noticed one side was out. Pulled the bulb, and the capsule was somewhat discolored. No biggie, I need a new bulb. So I call a buddy who works as a tech at a dealership (not audi) who frequently comes across "abandoned" hid bulbs and he saves them. Well, he gave me a set of two and I replaced my bad bulb. I compared the writing from the set he gave me to the bad bulb I pulled out and they match identical as far as wattage and model number (66040) etc but the colors are a bit off. When I first fire them up, they are really blue, which is typical, but after they warm up they settle into their operating colors. The old bulb has a definite crisp blue tone to it when compared to the new one. Not projector optics either, I viewed it from all angles, and at all angles the older bulb is more bluish. As the hid capsules get older, do they get more white/blue than yellow, or is the difference due to the bulbs not being from the same 'batch' or whatever?
