Today I removed the rear speakers and replaced them (unhooked) with better speakers. I then turned to making an attempt at removing the radio. Unfortunately, with the radio removal tool I had from my new Pioneer radio, I could not free the stock radio. I decided to give up and wait until next week and have the dealer pull it with their Audi radio removal tool. For some reason now, the radio does not power on. I am going to check the fuse now but I'm wondering if me sticking those tools in the slots has done something to the radio. I can't see how this is possible but maybe someone here who has removed their radio can advise.

It may be related to the alarm system. I think if the stereo is removed, it disables. Ask a dealer.. You may need to reset something.
