Condenser Blew up? Why
I bought a 1999 A4 1.8LT Quatro with 158K Miles. There are a couple of issues that I am trying to fix one out of time. First up, I went to charge the AC and heared a Hissing sound from the front of the Car. So I removed the Front Bumper and found the source of the leak. The Left side of the AC Condensor has a 1" Gash in it. I can only see Excessive pressure doing this.
So, I want to order a new one but before I install a new one, I like to find out if anyone else had seen this.
Also, The Freaking High Pressure Lock nuts are impossible to take off, I cut the condenser pipe out for now,,,,,
Please let me know with any input on this. Thanks,

Your system shouldn't be able to generate the pressure needed to burst the header. There had to be a weak seam, a defect from the original manufacturing. I think you can replace the condenser without worries.
