2001 A4 1.8TQ

So i was going to replace the air temp sensor in the front bumper today. I ordered what was supposed to be the replacement part 8D0 820 535 from 1st VW parts. Come to find out that it is not a direct replacement. The replacement part that I ordered includes a the sensor tip that is fused to a 4' wire w/ a plug on one end.

On my wiring harness,the sensor wires (brown /yellow & brown/white are terminated in a multi-wire plug with other sensor wires on them. The replacement plug won't fit ubnless I splice the wires.

I pulled off the sensor tip of my outside air temp sensor this morning and it reads 8Z0 820 535 (tip only). Is it possible to get just the tip?

I swapped 8Z0 820 535 w/ the same sensor tip on my B5.5 Passat. The Passat air temp reading is correct at 82F where the Audi reads 60F (parked side by side.

Do I need to splice the new part (8D0 820 535) into the existing harness?
