Default Considering an odd tire size

I'll probably be getting a 16" wheel for my 2001 A4 1.8T Q,Tip, and stock suspension. I may keep the suspension as is or hopefully upgrade to something slightly lower. I know the recommended tire size is a 205/55 but I also know that a 225/50 will fit just fine. Using a tire size calculator site, both the 205/55 and 225/50 only alters the speedo by less then 1%. What would be my problems if I went with a 215/55 which changes things by 2.5% ? What is the greatest % change that will be OK to change too? Thanks again.

usually below 3% is considered OK, but the lower the better. Why would you want that size anyway?

I thought it would be a cheap way to reduce wheel gap a little
