Default All years can be affected, but the older cars have more occurances.

Seems that they did make improvements, but I ahve heard of some newer cars having issues with control arms.

Default Not a recall. Audi is making efforts to help customers fix their cars,

offering to pay for the repairs and parts if the car falls within a certain (and very generous) age and mileage range. Ask at your dealer.

also, anything that is viscous enough to drip into the boot will simply run back out again. What we need to do is find a way to get real grease into the ball socket, and lots of it. I am waiting to get a bad control arm in my greasy little mitts so I can play with it. I have an idea that might just cure the problem.

And how do you know that it's going/gone?

Also those that live near the ocean are effected, and again, because of the salt mist.

Your car will sound like a cheap motel bed every time you drive it.

Default Sh*ite! So high pitched squeaks, i assume, just like mine. (m)

Except mine's not ALL the time, so maybe i should ignore it now. Do you think with just 10,000 miles, it could be a culprit?

Default Is your noise more like chirping birds? The control arms make more of a groan, like a old barn door.

But it is the repetitive nature of the squeak that gives it the old bed noise. If you only hear the noise when you hit bumps, but not when the car is stationary and you push on the fender, my best guess is your noise is something else. Maybee brakes, or something.

Default Thank you very much for the diagnosis. it's only when i go over bumps. (m)

i'll push on the fender to see what it is. if it's the brakes, is it something to worry about? should i tell the svc tech next time?

Thanks again! SOrry for being such a pita!

If it is the brakes, it is nothing to worry about.
