I say G-05 changeover. Otherwise, any Dexcool-compatible....~Supertech~. lol.
"Top up with DexCool in VW/Audi vehicles"
"VW/Audi applications- use DexCool because that's in accordance with factory coolant formula recommendations. Sure, the vehicle probably will be out of warranty by the time you get it and have to make a decision. But the OE recommendation is the safe way to go, and because you can easily obtain a DexCool, it's a no-brainer"<ul><li><a href="http://www.motor.com/MAGAZINE/Articles/082004_04.html">http://www.motor.com/MAGAZINE/Articles/082004_04.html</a</li></ul>

I recommended to the customer that he flush it and refill w/G12 as he had no idea when or who put it in there. (He just got the car)
Pardon my ignorance but how bad is this? I would imagine that it is a newer "aluminum safe" green crap, but if it was flushed well as it seems to have been is it OK? It was bright green, no murkiness or anything and tested to -25 or so.
Thanks!

although I have an idea about the urban tech lengend of coolants "gelling" that were mixed. Organic Acid Tech coolants like G-12/Dex gell when exposed to air in a leaky system. So the customer adds *blank* coolant "mixing" it....tech find it and blames "mixing" when it's the G-12 OAT contacxting with air in from the leak. So, back OT is that Silicated G-11/Prestone cannot mix with others (according to the chart I can't find!). Mix Dex w/G-12 they are identical OATs. G-05 mixes with Dex/OAT, but G-12+mixes with both....supposedly. For those older cars, TEXACO is non-OAT light Si, like G-11. Universal? Good luck with that. Likely OAT w/o Si or 2-EHA. Ok, shut-up. Your customer should re-do his coolant in 1-2 years to get the remaining Prestone out. That's not paranoia or lack of info, they don't mix according to my chart. Feel free to tell anyone, cust or co-worker, that Dex or Dex compatible is the correct top-off for G-12. fwiw I have G-05 in several cars, old and new.
