My teenage son's 2001 A4 2.8 has a coolant leak near the coolant temp sensor. At least when looking up from under the vehicle this is the area where there are coolant drops and evidence of past leakage. I cannot tell conclusively exactly what is leaking. Searching this site it appears the coolant flange is often mentioned as a leakage area. Is it safe to assume (I know assume) this is the source? I'v read the tech article on replacing the coolant flange and it sounds like something I don't want to replace unless I have to.

Is that the most likely culprit?
