Default Coolant flush

My 2001 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro's small hose under radiator came out while driving and dashboard displyed coolant stop symbol. Luckily there was a nearby service station and I got it fixed but all of my coolant got drained.

Engine was really hot, they put orange (forgot which one, they said its for new cars and very good) coloured coolant and after driving a mile again the coolant stop symbol was displayed.

When I check all the coolant was gone, I have no choice, I bought Pride 500 and filled the coolant with it.

Now its been 3 days and car is working perfectly fine. But one of my friend told me that never use any other coolant except for G12.

I called a service center and they are asking 125$ just for flushing coolant system.

What should be done?

Default Flush the coolant as a maintenance item.

And change the resevoir while you're in there (it's relatively cheap).

Some folks swear by running ONLY the Audi stuff. I've run Prestone's "any make" stuff in German cars for years without any trouble.

*shrug*

Can I do it by myself?

I run GM G11 green coolant in my car. Works better with a metal water pump impeller.

Default If it was"Dexcool Compatible"it's G-12 compatible.Test the concentration w/Hydrometer-Refractometer

The refractometer being prefered by junkies 2:1.

GM=Dexcool=G-12. G-11 is the one VW coolant to avoid.

Default Probably...

...but even I take cars to shops to get "power flushed" and "reverse flushed."

That and I don't have a hose to keep flushing it with water.
