Default Coolant level sensor screwed up ??

I have noticed several times that when the light comes ON for low coolant level, the level is actually up to max (3 times now). Then it will go away after few minutes driving. Could it be that the sensor is screwed up?

I definitely don't want to take a chance with it. The car does not overheat at all, runs fine. I used to loose a bit coolant, but since I've started adding only G12 (not water) seems like the leakage stopped. Go figure... 2001.5 A4 with GIAC.

Any help is appreciated. TIA!

Default try pulling sensor on the expansion tank and clean it up

that is the only sensor that detects low coolant
