Default COOLANT LIGHT problem only when its HOT OUTSIDE

I drive a 2001 1.8T A4. I love my car but am having a small problem. When my car has been parked in the sun on a warm day (70+) the coolant light warning comes on and beeps. The coolant is full and the car is obviously not overheating (it has been parked.) The light generally remains on and doesn't go off until the engine is cold and the outside temperature cools off.
Last summer the dealership replaced the 'temperature sending unit' but that did not fix the problem. I just had my car in for its 40k service and they replaced the temp. sending unit again. Well, its still not fixed. I have an appt. next week to have it looked at again. It's getting annoying. Any ideas?

You mean the light is on when the car has not even been driven? strange.

Default I think that there are two sensors on the back of the engine

Here is a link to an unrelated post - maybe they need to replace the other sensor? Another AWer had a similar issue - guage problem and the dealer replace the wrong on too. Anyway, just an idea...

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/229808.phtml</a

Default yeah...

Yeah, even when the car hasn't been driven. It's been parked for hours and hours. Then, start it up...and there's the annoying "beep..beep...beep" and the coolant light.

Default What about the low coolant sensor? I know you said the fluid is full... but

what if you have a faulty sensor there? Can't they check what sensor is tripping it via a VAG tool? Ask the dealer if there are any DTC's on the ECU. If they say huh? or what? they are obviously not doing their job.

Does it go off once the car warms?

Default not usually

If I drive 50-60 miles it sometimes goes off. Usually stays on.

Default The reason I asked is that there is more than one coolant sensor and I was wondering if one was

just gunny at ambient above X temperature. If you can call the dealer and see what DTC they show it might help determine what is going on. Perhaps they just swapped the most likely culprit instaed of the one that is really bad?
