Default Do you think its the T-stat?

Since the Coolant temo sensor has been replaced and I am still getting the Coolant code?
All the wires were checked and they were OK.
The code its throwing is 16500.
Otr do you think that its the residue thats triggering the code?

Default Jsut got off the Phone with AUDI service manager.

This is a new place. A bit of a drive from where I live but, worth it not to go back to the other crook.
He told me that the 2 problems are unrelated (CEL and residue in the system). By the way the code that the VAG is throwing is 16500.

Default Use your HVAC to see what your ECT sensor is readin

block 51 IIRC. Refer to the tech section on how to use the HVAC to read temp parameters. Basically see if your temp readings are normal. If your Tstat is broken 2 things might happen.

1. If you cruise on the highway your coolant temp will drop below normal operating range(stuck open)

2. Overheat(stuck closed)

Also try to clean the connectors for the ECT.

The 2 symptoms I described will give you a clue. Another way is to take it out and boil it. If you take it out, might as well just replace it.
