I cant believe it, 339$ for one wheel bearing, not to mention i might have to do the other 3 but they make no sound. Any one else have a bad original wheel bearing?

I bought my 97 A4 with a bad rear wheel bearing and did most of the work myself. I bought an after market bearing for $55 instead of the $150 Audi bearing, and after pulling the hub assembly had the old bearing pressed out and the new one pressed in for $40 at a local garage.
The only thing you have to be aware of is getting the alignment squared back up when you're done. I simply marked the alignment bolts where they were before taking it apart and re-aligned it to those marks when I was done. Worked like a charm. No pull or uneven tire wear so far. That was about 40K miles ago.
It cost me a total of $95 and a few hours of my time. Plus now that I've done it once, it'll be that much easier next time.
