Default Could coolant temp sensor cause car to misfire and stall?(long)

I posted previously about the misfires and sputtering my 2001 awm a4qt was having. Last night the car was bucking and could not be driven. I replaced the coolant temperature sensor this morning and checked the vag. I unhooked the maf while watching the vag and i got the code for to low a maf signal, but otherwise the car was reving fine, it just idled low. I reattached the bad maf and the readings came in where they were supposed to. The only strange thing was the oxygen sensor kept changing % as I revved the engine. It would go from 9% to 27%. I don't know if this is normal though. Why does the car seem to be revving correctly now, and it wouldn't go past 2k yesterday? Help!(by the way I stfa many times) thanks

Default Very possible to cause the missfires. Think about it; the bad sensor tells the ECU that the engine

is not running at normal operating temps. So the ECU tries to get it there. Whether it be through richening or leaning, it (the ecu)tries. Either condition cuould cause missfires depending on the %Engine Load. So the short to your answer; Yes.

Default My experience with a bad ECT sensor was it made the car a poor "hot" starter. Ran

fine once you got it going and started fine when really cold. When I got it VAGd, it was showing ECT at something like minus 100 degrees so it was enrichening the mixture.

Default Do you know if the oxygen sensor % will normally fluctuate so much?

It seemed to be between +10- at idle, but then it fluctuated a lot. I want to recheck it tonight and I am hoping for some idea of the range that it should fall into.

Default updated: FIXED!

thanks for your help again, I replaced the maf this morning in about 45 minutes. Turned the key and...no cel's, no stuttering, just nice smooth idle. It's actually nice, because I have replaced the maf, the o2 sensor, and the spark plugs. Its' like I got an all new fuel delivery system. Last thing will be to clean the tb when I get the chance. thanks again everybody.
